- There are 3 areas that are MUST SEES on the island of Santorini: the town of Oia , the capital city of Fiera, and Kamari Beach- enough to keep you busy for an entire vacation! Each has unique charm, beauty, and attractions. Oia, pictured above, is known for its sunset views, and we were not disappointed during our October visit!
2. Staying in Kamari Beach gives access to a fabulous “restaurant row” in the evenings, and some unique and surprisingly affordable shopping. Though most of the beaches are not typical “white and sandy” due to the nearby volcanic activity and rocky terrain, the views of the Aegean Sea are still breathtaking! We enjoyed our stay at The Radisson Blu Zaffron Resort .
3. Be prepared to stand in line for a photo of the blue domes of Oia at sunset. The crowd was a bit surprising, but we still. managed to find some amazing views that were people-free!
4. Book an adventure ahead of time, and you will not be disappointed! We enjoyed a sailboat ride on the Aegean Sea to a Nea Kameni, a volcanic island complete with hot springs to swim in. The perspective of Santorini from the Sea is something to behold!
5. The capital city of Fira is accessible by donkey path from the seaport, if you’d like a traditional Greek Isles experience! I mean, why not?
6. October is a great time to visit Santorini, as the busy season has just ended, but the warm weather is still hanging around! We did experience some wind, but the weather was perfectly pleasant for sightseeing!
7. Santorini is the perfect place to bring a Destination Photographer to document your trip-and WORTH the investment! What better souvenir to come home with than custom images of your own memories, of one of the most breathtaking places on earth!
